Trusting in Allah, as highlighted in the verse "And whoever puts their trust in Allah, then He alone is sufficient for them" in Al-Quran surah At-Thalaq verse 3, is a powerful reminder that our faith is not just a belief but a way of life that guides our actions and decisions. This trust fosters a sense of peace, allowing us to face life’s uncertainties with a firm conviction that Allah’s plan is always for our best, even when we cannot immediately see it. When we trust Allah, we align our lives with His guidance, knowing He will provide for our needs in ways we might not expect. This trust is essential in leading a halal and mindful life, as it reinforces our reliance on divine wisdom and encourages us to make ethical and mindful choices in all aspects of our lives.
"And whoever puts their trust in Allah, then He alone is sufficient for them."
Consider a person struggling with financial difficulties while trying to maintain a halal livelihood. It might be tempting to engage in questionable practices to earn a living, but placing trust in Allah means resisting that temptation. It means staying committed to ethical, halal work, knowing that Allah is sufficient to provide sustenance through lawful means. Many have experienced that when they uphold their commitment to halal and mindful living, even in the face of hardship, Allah opens doors for them in unexpected and hopeful ways, whether through new job opportunities, business ideas, or support from the community. I am sure this also happened to you or people around you as well at some point; when we feel we're about to give up but then put our trust to Allah at the highest, suddenly some blessings come in our way. One time, I had an important bill to pay with not enough means to fulfill that obligation. Suddenly I got called to an overtime job and the amount of payment I got is about the same amount that I need. I sat down in tears realising that it is Allah's way to provide me with what I need.
Another example can be found in health and mindful consumption. Imagine someone facing a health crisis, and they must make tough decisions about their diet or lifestyle. Trusting in Allah encourages them to be mindful of their body as an amanah (trust from Allah) and choose halal and wholesome (thayyib) options, even when alternatives might seem easier or more accessible. They might avoid processed or harmful foods and embrace a diet aligned with Islamic principles of halal and thayyib living. With trust in Allah, they know that these mindful choices, combined with efforts to seek treatment, will bring them peace and benefit, whether in healing or significant spiritual growth. It is okay if sometimes we want food outside the thayyib options. Just have a little without indulging on it. Remember, our body is an amanah from Allah so we must take care of it well.
In both examples, trusting in Allah reinforces the importance of halal and mindful living. It teaches us to have faith in divine wisdom while taking responsibility for our choices. By trusting in Allah and making mindful decisions, we strengthen our connection to Him and contribute to a more ethical, balanced, and spiritually fulfilling life.
